Smith County, Kansas

Lat: 39° 54' 55"N, Lon: 98° 44' 33"W
Washington Twp, Sec 1

Contributed by Beth Gillis, Nov 26, 2005 [rbgillis@ruraltel.net]. Total records = 0.

From the 281 & 36 Junction in Smith Center go 3 miles East to S road turn left and go north to 70 road (9 miles) turn west for 3/4 mile. Cemetery is located on the South side of the dirt road.

J.W. Galloway deeded this acre out Feb 20, 1884 to be used as a cemetery. There are perhaps 20 people buried here. Names and grave sites are unknown.

There were killer diseases in those days. Pneumonia, typhoid, diptheria, flu and small pox to name a few. If anyone knows names of burials in this cemetery I would be glad to add them.

I visited this cemetery on Nov 26, 2005.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
