Shumway Cemetery
Lyons, Rice County, Kansas

Lat: 38° 23' 28"N, Lon: 98° 14' 08"W
Harrison Twp, R8W Section 20

Contributed by Ermadean Boardman, Dec 02, 2010 [boardman@hbcomm.net]. Total records = 21.

To reach this cemetery, from Main Street in Lyons, drive north on Hwy 14 for 3 miles. Turn west onto J Ave and continue for 1.8 miles. The cemetery is between 14th & 15th Roads on the south side of the road.

This is a old, small family cemetery which dates back to the late 1880s, judging from the stones. I found it is well mowed, but some of the stones are in bad repair.

I walked this cemetery in Nov of 2010, using my digital camera. This includes all existing and legible stones and markers found at that time.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
