Farnsworth Family Burial Ground
Portis, Osborne County, Kansas

Lat: 39° 32' 55"N, Lon: 98° 38' 55"W
Bethany Twp, R12W Sec 10

Contributed by Beth Gillis, Dec 16, 2006 [rbgillis@ruraltel.net].  Total records = 11.

To reach this cemetery from Portis KS, on the south side of town, from Hwy 281, drive east on State Street and following the road which curves a lot for 2.8 miles. The cemetery will be on the south side of the road.

The land is located next to a old creek bed and cannot be seen from the road. You must walk from the road into where it is located about 1/4 mile.

This family burial ground was established in 1888 and the last burial was in 1976. The cemetery receives only occasional care.

It is not recommended to visit unless the weather is good, because it is on dirt roads and they are not maintained very often.

This is a complete listing of all known buried, which I have transcribed after Robert Gillis and I visited this cemetery in Dec of 2006.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
