From Kansas City, MO, take I35 South to exit 210 Gardner. Continue on W 175th St. Turn right on Edgerton Rd. Turn left at W 159th St. Turn right at Evening Star Rd. Cemetery is to the right in a line of trees off the road between two fields and cannot be seen.

This cemetery is located in rural McCamish Twp close to the Douglas County line. It is situated on a section line between two farmed sections, well in from the road, and is marked with a little outcropping of trees to the north of the trees that mark the section line that is far enough in it cannot be seen from the road to the west of the cemetery.

This old abandoned cemetery is on privately owned farmland in western Johnson County near Eudora, in Douglas County.

In the early 1970s, this cemetery was transcribed as part of a project by the Johnson Co. Genealogical Society, and donated to the county. Since many of the stones are now missing, I have added the now missing stones from this transcription, so they also may be remembered.

Little remains today of this cemetery. Within the copse of trees are two stones, buried within vines and bramble. On the west side of these trees is a clearing with the Broom stone. No other stones can be found today.

This is a complete transcription by reading and photographing the gravestones, completed on Oct 29, 2005. Photos available upon request.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
