From Kansas City, MO, take I35 South to the Edgerton exit (202). Turn right on Sunflower Road. Turn left on W 207th Street. The cemetery is on the southwest corner.

This rural cemetery which was established in 1858, is set well to the south of Edgerton and surrounded by fields. There are a number of very weathered stones that are illegible, and a number of broken and missing stones. Assumption Church, Edgerton, in 1893.

This is a complete transcription done by reading and photographing the gravestones. Several names appear in the Johnson County Cemetery Index that correlate to partially weathered stones, however there is not enough evidence or stone remains to tie the rest. Those names, as well as the unidentifiable stones, are included in this transcription.

I have had help from Kim Baker, she transcribed this one from the photos, completing it on Mar 10, 2007.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
