Lone Tree Corner Cemetery
Putnam, Bureau County, Illinois

Lat: 41° 11' 03"N, Lon: 89° 28' 55"W
Wheatland Twp, T14N R Sec 21

Contributed by Dena Whitesell, Feb 01, 2006 [iluvot2@yahoo.com]. Total records = 31.

This cemetery is located 5 miles west of Routh 29 on 500N going into 250N, also known as the Bradford Blacktop just outside of a little town called Putnam. The cemetery is located on the left side as you proceed west into Bureau County heading towards the town known as Bradford.

There is no sign within this cemetery. There is a memorial marker placed to the front, within the cemetery, in remembrance of the original persons buried at the original site known as 'Lone Tree Cemetery'. Several markers, found from that cemetery, are laying in a pile at the edge of this cemetery.

The cemetery is kept up but I do not know by whom and appears to be inactive. I have tried to reseach this cemetery as well as the original Lone Tree Cemetery but have found only that this cemetery was established in 1860 which is only ten years after the original. If anyone knows of the history to either of these cemeteries, please let me know, as I will add to this data as permitted.

I completed this transcription on Jan 31, 2006, reading from all existine and legible headstones and markers.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
