In Ashton, State Highway 20, turn west on 1300 N, Frost Top Drive-In is on the corner. Continue on road till you reach a dead-end where you have to go either north or south, turn South on 3125 E. The road curves, and the cemetery will be on the north side of the road. Total miles from Ashton to Ora Cemetery is 4.4 miles.

The town of Ora, Idaho, was settled in the 1800's. Today there is no trace of the town, the cemetery is surrounded by grain fields, there are farm houses scattered here and there.

The cemetery is bad shape, and is over grown with weeds. The wooden markers have all but disintegrated, with only a couple remaining. The homemade stone tombstones are beginning to crumble away. There are a few modern graves, mixed in, but most have faded away, and no trace of them remains.

I walked and read this cemetery in July of 2004. This includes all existing and legible headstones or markers. There were at least 7 illegible markers.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
