Total records = 523.
This cemetery is located ½ mile north of the Westmond Store on
the east side of US Hwy 95. It is easily seen from the highway.
The land for this cemetery was donated by Fred Williams in 1905, when
he started selling plots for burials. It took until 1908 to finalize
the recording, platting and other things necessary to officially become
the original Cocolalla Cemetery.
The name was later to be changed to Westmond Cemetery during the 1920s,
when the Westmond Cemetery Association was formed. The cemetery is now
operated by a board which oversees all of the operations.
The oldest known burial is 1890 and it was transferred in from a farm
in 1907 or 1908. I found this cemetery in great condition and very well
maintained.
I was unable to get a photo of all the burials. It was either because
the stone was not legible or I could not find a marker for it. An asterisk
* has been placed after those which I have no photo.
I visited and read this cemetery Aug 19, 2002, using a digital
camera.
