Drive north of Windsor CT on US I-91, take Exit 38, drive north on Poquonock Ave (Rte 75) for 1.4 miles. The cemetery will be on the east side of the road.

This cemetery is owned and maintained by the Second School Society, which was part of the first government of Windsor, starting in 1633. They had an earlier cemetery in this area, Ye Olde Burial Grounds, which became filled to capacity. For this reason in the early 1800s, Elm Grove Cemetery was established.

In the late 1800's, the Connecticut General Assembly mandated that all public schools be operated by the towns in Connecticut. At that time the schools were removed from the jurisdiction of the School Society and operated by the Town of Windsor. The cemeteries remained under the Second School Society.
