From SR 85, exit at Saratoga Ave. and drive west about two miles to SR
9. Continue west on SR 9 (Big Basin Way) and go six blocks to 6th Street.
At 6th Street, turn left (south) and drive two blocks to the cemetery
entrance at 6th and Oak Streets.
Madronia cemetery was formally established in 1863, although there
were burials on this site as early as 1854. The cemetery, named after
the red bark madrone trees that were once on this site, is still active
and in excellent condition. There appears to be some missing headstones
in the older sections of the cemetery.
This list was compiled from all existing and legible headstones
from my visits between Sep and Dec 2006.
