Ashford Cemetery Records
Courtland, Lawrence County, Alabama

Lat: 34° 41' 20"N, Lon: 87° 20' 34"W
T4S R8W NE1/4 Sec 23

Compiled and contributed by Fred Rowe [rowefred@hotmail.com].  Total records = 5.

This cemetery is in the middle of a field, about 1 1/2 miles west of Courtland on Hwy 20/72W about 1/2 mile north of Rock Pond and the bridge on Hwy 20/72W, where the old 20/72W merges back into the new Courtland bypass.

Ashford Cemetery is located on private property. This Ashford family burying ground was on the estate of Rev. J.B. Lorance, pastor of Courtland Presbyterian Church from about 1872 to 1897.

The earliest burial date listed is 1840. There are several unmarked graves.

My first survey was done Mar 27, 2003, last updated May 4, 2004, and includes all existing and legible headstones.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
