To reach this cemetery drive northeast on Gault Ave N in Fort Payne to 49th St NW, turn west or left. The cemetery is located to your right just after you turn, on a hilltop to the west of the Lower Sulphur Springs Cemetery.

This is an old family cemetery that has just recently been made available for public access. There are only about 18 graves that had markers, but many of the old markers have been vandalized.

The name comes from the fact that the Warren family has owned the property in recent history. It was originally the Stewart family cemetery. This 40 acre tract was entered Jul 15, 1854 by Samuel Stewart.

Known burials in this cemetery are either direct descendants of Samuel Stewart or related to him in some way. Samuel Stewart who died Feb 23, 1855* is believed to be buried here in an unmarked grave. His mother, Mary Allen Stewart, may also be buried here. She died before the 1860 Dekalb Census was taken. Recently, the cemetery has been cleaned and a fence placed around the cemetery.

Transcribed in 2005 from cemetery readings and the below mentioned sources.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
