Cemetery History

Snowdon Cemetery opened in 1924 on the site of the early nineteenth century Snowdon House and its garden. Snowdon was a sixteenth century poetic name for Stirling. The cemetery was a successor to Valley Cemetery and Ballengeich Cemetery.

Snowdon Cemetery is located in the same location with the five cemeteries that comprise "The Old Town Cemeteries", but is not considered to the be part of them. Those cemeteries are Holy Rude Churchyard, Mar's Wark Cemetery, Drummond Pleasure Ground, Ladies' Rock, and Valley Cemetery.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
