Cummings reflected an Administrative Date of Death which was Jan. 4, 1945. Following the war, it was common to assign an Administrative Date of Death when a date couldn't be accurately determined for a soldier listed as Missing in Action. Through the process of accounting for Pvt. Cummings, his Date of Death has been updated to Dec. 31, 1944.
