Just west of Buchanan, turn south on Hwy #47. Go 8 km to junction of grid #746. Turn right (west) on 746 and go 9km. At the corner, turn left (south). The church and cemetery are straight ahead.

On a hill overlooking the prairie countryside, stands the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Dormition of the Holy Mother of God. It was built in 1910. The founders of the church were Nick Badiuk, Nick Bilan, Nick Chobotar, Dmytrash Drozdiuk, Elash Franko, John Forstey, Nick Kushneruk, John Lungul, William Odowichuk and Nick Rusnak. Land for the church was donated by John Forstey (3 acres) and Dmytrash Drozdiuk (2 acres). The cemetery is to the east of the church in the same yard.

The cemetery is one of the oldest and largest in the area. It contains over 200 graves dating back to 1913. The church still has an active board, is open about 6 times a year for regular church services and as required for special occasions. The cemetery is still in use today.

In August 2006 I visited the cemetery and took a visual account of this cemetery. Some of the information was gleaned from a local history book.
