Greenleaf Cemetery
Hinchcliffe, Kamsack Region, Saskatchewan

Hinchcliffe, Saskatchewan
SW16-36-4-W2

Contributed by Evangeline Mostowchuk, Aug 07, 2003, last edited Aug 30, 2011 [van345@email.com]. Total records = 123.

Turn north at Junction 9 & 49 just east of Preeceville. Go north on Highway #9 to Hinchcliffe corner. On the west is a cemetery, turn east unto grid road #753. (There is a sign that says "Danbury") Go 5 miles east, then turn north for 2 miles. Turn west at the corner and the church and cemetery are on the right.

The church on the same grounds as this cemetery is called the Rusally Greek Orthodox Congregational Church. In 1916 a title was obtained for the 2 acres of land, donated by Mike Antonowicz, in memory of his invalid son, which was to be called "Greenleaf Cemetery". In 1943 the church was completed with the first service that summer. The last service was in the summer of 1966.

The church was vandalized and now stands as a landmark. A membership of 55 and members of the deceased get together twice each summer to clean up the grounds and church. In 1980 a new fence and gate were built, and the church reshingled and painted.

I visited the Greenleaf Cemetery in mid Jul, 2003. I recorded these names and dates from the tombstones, some I transliterated, as they were in Ukrainian. Others were unmarked graves. Some of the information I gleaned from a local history book.

    cemetery records

A free online library of cemetery records from thousands of cemeteries across the world, for historical and genealogy research.

    Clear Digital Media, Inc.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
