Driving Directions

The town of Lambton is located on route 108 almost half way between Sherbrooke and Quebec City. The cemetery is behind the Saint-Vital Church on rue Principale/ route 108. If you are heading north from Sherbrooke it will be on your right.

History

This Catholic parish was founded in 1848 and church records began in 1853. The first burial ground here was not far from the church but was only used until 1899 when the bodies were removed to the new cemetery. Most of the burials are French Canadians, therefore church records are in French.

Cemetery Records

Records linked below were transcribed from tombstone inscriptions by Leslie & Susan Nutbrown during a visit to the cemetery in 2019. An additional 800 records were transcribed from church records dated 1853-1940 for burials without monuments.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
