McIver-Beaton Cemetery
Milan, Frontenac County, Quebec

Contributed by Leslie Nutbrown, Aug 08, 2005 . Total records = 12.

This cemetery is located beside the old Milan Road (Route 214) about one half mile northwest of Milan on property originally owned by Alex McIver.

At the time it was opened it was alongside the main road from Milan to Stornoway. The cemetery for the most part has returned to nature with a few tombstones still visible among the trees. It is acccessible by footpath from MacArthur's Corner.

To preserve the memory of these early Milan settlers, the Lewis Cemetery Association designed and erected a monument bearing the names of many of those buried at this old burying ground. The monument (see photo) has been placed at the Gisla Cemetery, on Gisla Road.

The names presented here are taken from that monument. There is an estimated 30 individuals buried here. The list below is only 12 of the early settlers. The last burial was in 1947.

I transcribed this cemetery in July of 2005, from the monument placed in the Gisla Cemetery.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
