Uigg Pioneer Cemetery
Queens County, Prince Edward Island

Contributed by Leslie Nutbrown, Jun 25, 2006, last edited Sep 16, 2006 . Total records = 33.

From Charlottetown, take the Trans Canada Highway (Route 1) east about 20km to route 3 toward Georgetown. Take route 3 about 8 km to route 24 on your right. Continue on route 24 to the hamlet of Uigg. You will see the Uigg cemetery on your right. Continue on a km or two and you will find the Uigg Pioneer Cemetery on your left.

This old cemetery is the final resting place of Scotch settlers mostly from the Isle of Skye. Some stones are not easy to read and a couple are lying flat. The cemetery is not very big and there is no fence or gate but the cemetery is kept mowed.

Susan Nutbrown and I made a complete recording of all legible tombstones in June of 2006.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
