To reach this cemetery, begin at the intersection of Highways 2 & 53, east of Brantford, (Cainsville). There are traffic lights. Travel south on Brant County Road # 18, for several kilometres. You will come to an intersection with traffic lights. Turn left on to Brant County Road # 4, a.k.a. Cockshutt Road. Travel south for a few kilometres. Watch for a road sign indicating Brant County Road # 20, a.k.a. Indian Line. Turn left and travel southeast for approximately 16 kilometres. Watch for the Hagersville Cemetery on your right, the southwest side of Brant County Road # 20. You can't miss it.

This cemetery is under the supervision of Haldimand County, Caledonia, Ontario. It is active with considerable space for new burials. The cemetery is nicely maintained. Many years ago, Spruce trees were planted around the border of the original cemetery. Many of these trees have died from age and disease and were rather unsightly. When I was conducting the transcription, the dead trees and the stumps were cut and removed. This has given the cemetery a much nicer appearance.

While working on the transcribing, I noticed several monuments in a pile beside a shed at the northwest boundary of the cemetery. I was able to read some of these stones and they are recorded here. Each one is shown with an (*) at the end of the individual record. I was only able to get partial information from some of the stones. Others, I could not read.

I walked this cemetery in May and June, 2011, reading and recording the information that I needed from each monument or grave marker that could be read, in order to complete the transcription. process. A few old and broken stones are unreadable.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
