Pioneer Cemetery
Richmond Shire, Queensland, Australia

Contributed by Jackie Carr, Apr 27, 2003 [carrwalker@bigpond.com]. Total records = 8.

To reach the cemetery, travel the Flinders Highway through Richmond. Tt is next to the BP Service Station on your way to Mount Isa.

Richmond was established in about 1860. This cemetery is no-longer used. There is another cemetery in Richmond that is in use now. This pioneer cemetery is very small and was first used in the early 1900's.

It only has about 30 graves about 15 of these are unmarked. The cemetery is kept in reasonable condition and is cared for by the Richmond Shire council.

The records are not complete since many of the headstones are badly worn and unreadable. I have transcribed from all existing and legible headstones.

I visited and transcribed this cemetery Apr 27, 2003.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
