To reach the cemetery take Sunset Drive in the suburb of Sunset to the edge of town. Mount Isa Cemetery is maintained by the Mount Isa City Council with a Sexton living on the grounds, which are very well maintained. They have not long built a small crematorium and I believe the will be building a chapel etc eventually. There is a map at the gate showing the seven sections.

Mount Isa is situated on the Barkley Highway, about 117 kms west of Cloncurry and south of Camooweal on the Barkley Highway. Both are in the Northwest part of Queensland, near the Northern Territory border.

The several accidental deaths most likely were due to mining accidents. The town of Mount Isa began in 1923 and these records are from about 1929 to 1998, so perhaps the records were either lost or there were no deaths at first. This is a transcription from the cemetery burial records.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
