Turnbull Refuge Cemetery
Spokane County, Washington
Contributed by Maggie Rail, Jan 27, 2001 [mrail@asisna.com].
Total records = 0.
This old burial place is in the Turnbull Refuge area, thus the name
for it. It was at one time an Indian burial ground, possibly a family
gravesite. Several years ago some college archealogical students exhumed
remains (reportedly Indian) and used them for study, leaving other unmarked
graves.
I have so far been unable to find this burial ground. I found it listed
one place as in T22N R41E Sec. 1, but I am not sure that is correct.
It is also reported to me there are several family burial sites south
of Spokane, in and around this same area. Hopefully one day I can find
more of them. Anyone who has information further on this, please contact
me.
