Antioch Cemetery
Merrill, George County, Mississippi

Travel west out of Lucedale, Mississippi on highway 198, turn left at the intersection onto the 98 by-pass heading west. After 1.7 miles turn left onto Merrill road and go 1.9 miles. Turn left onto Moss Drive and go .3 tenths of a mile and this cemetery will be on your right. To reach it from Merrill, drive northeast on Merrill Road, turn right onto Moss Drive and continue into the cemetery.

The cemetery is surrounded by a fence, and inside the large fenced in area there are three smaller fenced in areas. There were no graves in two of these smaller fenced in areas that had recoverable information. One small fenced in area had 8 marked graves in it. I will note those in this area. All other graves were located throughout the larger open area of the cemetery.

This cemetery is the property of New Antioch Baptist Church located in Merrill, Mississippi, this church was formerly known as Antioch Church, and sometime during the 1990s the name was changed to the present New Antioch Church. The church and family members of those interred here provide the upkeep. There were numerous unmarked graves in the cemetery.

I walked the cemetery on Dec 24, 2007, and information was taken from all legible temporary grave markers and headstone inscriptions.
