This very large crematorium was established in 1934. Until 1970 it was the only crematorium serving the Brisbane area. In early 2005, they are still using a card and file system to locate interment sites, so responses are slow for information. Computerisation started in the 1990s, old records are being added to the database as lookups are done, a slow process.
